Conservation Districts are independent run local government units. The serve to improve conservation based on local needs, using technical knowledge of a national network.
Like other useful governmental programs, their funding has been cut in recent years. This makes it more difficult for the Conservation Districts to serve local conservation needs.
Every year the districts hold a spring tree sale fundraiser. Each district has their own sale, and the selections and prices vary. Remember nature does not respect political boundaries. Supporting nearby conservation helps your local environment as well. It may pay to look around at offerings from a nearby county to increase your available options.
